Wow, we’ve never seen anything like this before. A new client of ours had discovered that one of her cats Soft Paw nail covers had embedded itself into the poor kitty’s pad. Luckily, Dr.Wickstrom was able to dislodge and remove it. We didn’t know that Soft Paws could do this, so please monitor your cats paws to make sure the nail covers are sitting properly throughout their duration (about 4-6 weeks).

Can you guess what these are? (They’re from the same dog!)

The toe on the left is a dewclaw removed from a german shepherd x collie. The one on the right is another one of her dewclaws.. but this one has overgrown and curled into the pad of this poor doggy. The huge size of this one is due to it being swollen and infected.

Upon furthure investigation, we found that the nail grew to nearly make a full 360, burrowing into the tissue to meet at the base of the quick! Ouch!
